PETALING JAYA: The wait for the Apple iPad 2 will be over soon as the Tablet is expected to go on sale on Friday. The successor to the wildly popular iPad is capable of capturing 720p HD movies and will be available from several authorised Apple resellers, according to a source who wished to remain anonymous.
The prices for the iPad 2, which will be available in six flavours, are expected to be cheaper than the previous models. For instance, the 16GB WiFi-only base model is expected to cost RM1,499.
The iPad 2, which went on sale in the United States in early March, is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the first version. The Tablet will feature a more powerful dual-core A5 processor that Apple claims will perform 2x faster than the one in the original device, which will improve web surfing and multitasking.
The Smart Covers are also expected to go on sale on the same day. The cover is magnetic and switches on the iPad when it’s opened. When the cover is closed, the iPad will go into standby mode automatically.
The Smart Cover can also be folded into a stand, when a user needs to type or watch a video or slideshow, for example.
